Sliding Float Rig

Float fishing is a visual and very exiting form of sea angling. It is an excellent method when fishing from Piers or rocky head-lands into deep water.

The sliding knot can be moved up or down to fish at any depth in search of Garfish and Mackerel near to the surface, Coalfish in mid-water, or Pollack and Wrasse in and around the kelp-beds. Make the hook length about 50cm, and tie the top swivel another 60cm higher. This keeps the float away from the hook when casting to avoid tangles. 20lb line is sufficient and a 1 or 1/0 hook will catch most inshore species. Step up to a 2/0 or 4/0 if larger Pollack are about.
